San Carlos Solar Energy (SaCaSol) is a greenfield, stand alone solar farm that supplies daytime peak power to the local grid throughout the entire year. It has a total gross capacity of 22 MW, developed in two phases: Phase 1 with 13 MW and Phase 2 with 9 MW. The locations are approximately 20-hectare and 15-hectare adjacent properties within the San Carlos Ecozone, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. These are near the 19.99 MW San Carlos BioPower (SCBP) biomass plant and the operational San Carlos BioEnergy (SCBI) bio-ethanol plant with its co-generation power facility.\n\nThe country’s fist utility scale solar farm began construction in September of 2013 and currently delivers over 35 million kW hours to the grid. Since its commissioning, SaCaSol has received significant accolades throughout the industry. Named Green Company of the Year at the Asia CEO Awards for 2014 and a Solar Power Project of the Year at the Asian Power Awards 2014, SaCaSol has paved the way for solar energy in the Philippines. An expansion of the solar park is currently underway, scheduled to bring the total capacity to 45 MW. Furthermore, SaCaSol II (32 MW) and III (33 MW) are also under construction on Negros to help meet the country’s target of 500 MW of solar power by 2016.\n\nSan Carlos Solar Energy provides supplemental electricity to an area with a short supply and increasing demand for power. It is committed to maintaining the environmental integrity of that surrounding area. At SaCaSol, we believe in producing clean energy for the sustainable development and inclusive growth of our shared environment and communities.
