In May of 1998, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority approved the application of SJRI for the declaration of the 405-hectare property located in Barangays Palampas and Punao in the city, subject to Presidential Proclamation. Known as the San Carlos Ecozone, the area is the first and only Ecozone in the province and will be developed by SJRI as approved Developer/Operator. …………………………………………………………………………………………………… The Ecozone is envisioned to be a world class, environment-friendly industrial estate with complimenting residential communities, commercial and recreational facilities, airport, parks, school and other establishments. The development and operation of this Ecozone project is envisioned to catapult the City of San Carlos into an economic giant towards the new millennium. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………SJRI has also expanded its business by offering civil engineering contracting services. In 2006, SJRI secured a P160 Million contract for the design and construction of the Site Development of San Carlos Bioenergy’s new ethanol plant in San Carlos City. Subsequently, SJRI secured additional subcontracts for civil works from the ethanol plant’s other contractors, Poyry Ltd. and KBK, valued at approximately P40 Million. By creating SJR Construction as a separate division, the company seeks to expand its contracting services capability and offer its services beyond San Carlos. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………SJRI looks up to the challenges of the new millennium as it continues with its projects and serves as a potent force in the economic development of the country, particularly in Negros Island.
